Geometry of
the North Rose Window
of Chartres Cathedral
Workshop
held at the
Constructing The Universe Classroom
with
Michael S. Schneider
San Anselmo, California
31 July 2010
In this workshop participants first saw an illustrated
presentation concerning the traditional geometry found at Chartres
Cathedral including the geometry of its West facade, its floor
plan and the geometry of its labyrinth and North Rose Window.
Then they were taught the steps of the geometric construction
by which the window was designed, and each began by constructing
the geometry with a compass and straightedge and in their own
way transformed it into art.
